Snapper

Snapper was a clone of Pac-Man and created by Jonathan Griffiths for the BBC Micro and was launched in 1982. Originally it had been called Puc Man but was changed to avoid legal action and the initial release was also chnaged due to the characters and game being to close to the original.

The games main character was a round yellow faced character with short legs and a green cowboy hat, the ghosts were skinny slighly humanoid monsters. Similar to Pac-Man, there were bonus items such as fruits, although the highest scoring item was an acorn. One of the main differences to the original was the behaviour of the ghosts, whereas in Pac-Man, they had set patterns, in Snapper they patrol their own corner for a set number of times before breaking free and chasing the snapper. The higher the level, the earlier the ghosts chase the snapper.
